Passports: How can I know the status of my UAE visa with just the passport number?
Status can be checked at this link with only passport details.https://echannels.moi.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/fileValidity
How many have been stuck at the US Embassy in India on INA 221g administrative processing? How many have been unfairly denied a visa?
I am stating my overall experience about 221(g) clause (US visa hold on or temporary state) lately this year.I filled my DS-160 application on 15 March, 2016. While scheduling my appointment through ustraveldocs, I was required to answer some questions like am I under 18 years below or 80 years above of age, did my visa expired within one year etc. Since, my visa had expired within one year, so I got drop-box appointment for my application. There was no scheduled date for the same. For that, I dropped my passport, DS-160 confirmation page, dropbox confirmation page, Visa fee receipt, 2 photos to VFS center in Delhi (US Embassy Visa Office) on 18 March, 2016. Later a day, I got a call from US embassy asking what my PhD was all about. On 25 March, I got mail from US embassy stating that my passport has been picked up and can be collected from the center. Since, Holi was on 23 March, I was on holidays and hence collected my passport on 28 March, 2016. I never thought, I would be issued a 221(g) hold on visa status stating that my visa is under administrative processing. I was required to go through the interview. I got a handwritten yellow slip stating that the applicant has done her PhD in computer applications for securing wireless sensor network through bio-inspired approaches. The paper mentioned that I do not have to schedule an appointment and can go on any business day before 10:00 AM. I learned that I come under TAL (Technology Alert List). It is a list attended for scientists and researchers whose work revolves around following domains:Conventional Munitions,Nuclear Technology, Physics, and Engineering,Rocket Systems and Unmanned Air Vehicle,Navigation, Avionics and Flight Control,Chemical, Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering,Remote Sensing, Imaging and Reconnaissance,Advanced Computer/Microelectronic Technology,Materials Technology,Information Security,Laser and Directed Energy Systems Technology,Sensors and Sensor Technology,Marine Technology, andRobotics Urban PlanningI went to US embassy on 30 March (P.S. consular office is closed for public on last Wednesday  of every month).  Therefore, I went again to the US embassy on 31 March around 9:00 AM. It had a huge line so I got my interview around 10:30. There was a young Chinese lady who asked me a couple of questions:Q1. What is the practical application of my work?Q2. Is my work related to network security or infrastructure?I explained my work but she didn’t understand. Therefore, she took out the photograph from my passport and asked me to go to Window 6 with my passport. I went there and an Indian lady handed me a letter that my visa require some more administrative processing and I had to submit a single word file to us embassy (advanceprocessing@state.gov) including details such as letter from the work organisation, resume, research work, reason to visit USA, travel itinerary, travel companions. The letter also said I have to check the status of my visa continuously at following url:https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/I emailed all the documents to the prescribed email id on 31 March.I checked my status continuously everyday on the above mentioned url but the message said that my visa require additional administrative processing and it can  take several weeks. Until unless on 21 April, the status changed to “Issued”. Later on 22 April, I got an email from US embassy stating that my passport has been picked up and can be collected. On 25 April I collected my passport which had a US visa stamping.Interview Held: 31 March, 2016Issued: 21 April, 2016The overall experience was gloomy since the wait period is too long and the embassy do not comment for how long the processing can take to respond back.

Why are there so many Indian recruiters/consultancies in the US? Over the few months that I have been looking for work, I would say only one or two were not Indians from India.
Like many outsourced jobs to India, the recruiting industry has become a prime target for mass market outsourcing, and India as always has the jump on the mass market outsourcing. Many of the Indian recruiters who contact you will actually be located in the US, but they are typically calling from Indian-run agencies that are HQ’d in India. Other times, they will actually be calling you from India directly, as pointed out in another answer…they work overnight to match the U.S. time zone.I absolutely refuse to deal with them because of the utter lack of professionalism. These “recruiters” have no idea what job they are sourcing for. They just do key word searches based on a work order they are given by their manager, and then they contact you. I am, myself, a professional recruiter here in the US. I have been contacted by these “recruiters” from India for $7/hr customer service jobs that were 2 - 3 hours away from where I live. This just goes to show how unprofessional they are - a key word pops up in the database search, and they don’t even bother looking at the resume - they just call or in most cases, blind e-mail a job description to you.I have dealt with 2 Indian recruiters beyond an initial phone call in my lifetime. In both cases, they exhibited the exact same behavior:Called about the jobdescribed it, in very poor detail, and could barely give me an idea about the company itselfAsked for a copy of my resume to be e-mailed to a static, non-personalized addressCut off all contact with me immediately after the phone call - no calls, no e-mail responsesGot ANGRY and very rude when they called me back almost a year later expecting me to have been waiting around for the job they contacted me about 10 months ago. When I receive a communication telling me about a “great opportunity” for $7/hr as a customer service agent, when I have been an HR Recruiter for 5 years making $85K+, I am not only insulted, but I am also amused to an extent. I have zero tolerance for this lack of professionalism, and just recently I let one of them have it…I wrote a very nasty, harshly-worded e-mail back to a recruiter who wanted to speak to me about a $9/hr contract customer service position that I would have to relocate halfway across the country for. I get customer service contact a lot because I recruiter for CS at my company, hence it is on my resume and pops up in key word searches. Well, I wasn’t having it, and I am sick of these unprofessional contacts. There was nothing at all racial in my incredibly harsh e-mail, but I flat out made it clear that I did not want to hear from them again, that their unprofessional conduct bordered on utter stupidity, and that they had no business in recruiting. I wound up getting a call from the manager of the company who asked me why I responded so harshly to a great opportunity. When I told him that relocating 1200 miles to take $9/hr job on contract for 4 months when it clearly shows on my resume that I am an HR Recruiter internally for my company, and that I make $85K/yr, up to $110K/yr with bonus, I would have to be as stupid as his recruiter who contacted me to take the job. He seemed dumbfounded and still asked why I wouldn’t consider the opportunity anyway as a career change. I told him that he should take the job if it’s such an amazing opportunity, and he said that it would be a major step down for him. He then questioned why the term “customer service” was on my resume, and I told him to read my resume. He said he didn’t have it in front of him.The conversation basically ended with me telling him that he and his staff were unprofessional deadbeats, and that I wanted my resume and contact information removed from their database before I report them for breaching of privacy act (which technically doesn’t exist in the way I phrased it, but they know nothing about the U.S.). The manager began to stutter and apologized and I hung up.Yesterday, I was called by 3 different Indian “recruiters” for the same job…again, a job that would be roughly 3 hours commuting time each way if I were to drive rather than relocate. Each one could barely describe the position in the e-mail. I told all of them to take me out of their database and never contact me again. So as stated, recruiting is a mass market outsource job for Indian agencies. I highly recommend hanging up on them and/or deleting any e-mails they send your way - even if the job they talk to you about does sound enticing, here’s the thing - THEY ARE NOT RECRUITING FOR IT. They do not have a contract. They are instead trying to get your resume so that can try and “sell” it to the company that has the job. They are almost always rejected (I reject non-contracted Indian recruiter submissions on a daily basis). Then your resume winds up in a garbage pile of resumes that they received from those so-called “recruiters” that they now will not want to consider because if the recruiter finds out about it, they’ll start trying to make legal trouble if they bring you in for interview on their own accord.Avoid Indian recruiters at all costs. NOTHING good will come of it.

How do I check a counterfeit US visa?
Damjan Denoble answered perfectly. You can also check the Processing Times here: USCIS Processing Time Information. On the bottom of your application receipt, it should list where your application is being processed. Go to the above address and select the service center listed on your receipt. I will give an example. If your application is being processed at the California Service Center, click that option for the processing dates. If you applied for an I-129F, Petition for an Alien Fiance on November 1st, 2017, you will see that it will likely take about 6 months to process. (They are currently processing applications submitted May 1, 2017).Remember to prepare for the interview itself—This is crucial, especially in the current political climate. Although exact numbers are hard to come by, I have read that anywhere from a quarter to one-third of visa applications are denied at the interview stage. This varies widely depending on the consulate, consular officer and country from which you are applying. Unfortunately, many people are denied visas due to unpreparedness or nervousness at the time of the interview. It is understandable: a lot is riding on one quick interview. I have found a service that seeks to increase your chances of a successful interview by connecting applicants with experienced former foreign service officers for one-one-one practice interviews. Check out the website here: www.visapreponline.com and let me know what you think. I wish I had known about this service several years ago! Please keep us updated and good luck!
